About Me
Hi there! My name is Lisa Carmen, and I’m really happy you’re here.
For more than twenty years, I’ve dedicated my life’s work to women and children. In fact, I guess you could say I started my first women’s circle under the slide at recess, in the fourth grade.
After decades of building community, about two months into the launch of my last community, Sober is the New Black in Dallas, COVID happened and stopped me in my tracks.
In the stillness of lockdown, without any other chatter, influence or input, I realized how much I needed that full-stop. I decided I was “DONE” holding space, creating community, organizing events, or putting myself out there in any public way. After years of giving from a near empty, leaking, cracked cup, I was burnt out, as empty as an inside-out pocket. I had nothing left to give.
Turns out I wasn’t done. On the other side of that, I know now— I just needed to catch my breath, focus on my own healing, and learn how to regulate my nervous system. I had no idea how to be a safe place for myself. I do, now.
I’ve been focusing on becoming the woman I’ve always wanted to be. I am Her now, and as much as I tried to convince myself I was finished with women’s work, the reality is this:
I am here to help women heal and grow.
My purpose remains the same, ever since that fourth grade girl’s club, under the slide.
Join me on the ever-evolving journey, where my new offering is for women experiencing issues in their present lives, due to needs that went umet as little girls.
Because no matter where we are in life, first we were daughters.
Those little girl versions of us still live inside, waiting to be mothered and cherished, protected and nurtured — by our Selves.
This work takes an integrated approach, involving body, mind and soul. It includes a variety of elements like reparative experiences, shadow work, Jungian approaches to dream exploration, storytelling, ritual, movement, somatic practices, art and soothing, nurturing touch. (More on that later!)
I’m a trauma-informed women’s Life Coach, clinically trained in T.O.N.U.S. somatic therapy methods, certified in Authentic/Conscious Relating and I’ve led hundreds of women into deeper understandings and expressions of themselves through one-on-one work, circles, workshops and retreats. But here, I’m a daughter, sharing my journey and my healing path.
I’m a mother to Madelyn, a full-blown GROWN-UP, artist, writer and overall badass. Check out her Substack here. I’m married to my best friend, Matt. We live/love/laugh (sorry, inside joke, I had to) in Garland, TX with our doggie and two very entertaining cats. I make my living as a nanny and it’s some of the most rewarding work I’ve done. In my spare time, I scroll on my phone, and think about all the creative projects gathering dust in my closet. Sometimes I doodle or draw.
I am always open to interaction, personal stories and comments, any time. My dream is that this work becomes a blooming, supportive community, committed to growth, healing through connection.
For this to be a real community, it needs back and forth interaction. It needs mutual revelations, it needs brave truth-telling. It needs you.
Watch for a podcast, online circles, workshops, Inner Child Parties and more.
For the time being, all of my offerings will be free or donation-based as this is a labor of love meant to be accessible and inclusive. Please subscribe to stay updated and as always, I’m so glad you’re here.
